Not always a WE situation

So. Before getting pregnant, I really never thought about the way people talk about this stuff.

Now, I do!

I simply loathe when people, as in couples, refer to themselves as ‘we are pregnant’ or ‘we gave birt’ The fuck you didn’t.

Being pregnant, and with a pregnancy thats goddamn painful, let me tell you.  Never in a million years would I talk about my pregnancy as something ‘we’ are. My man is NOT pregnant. He does not carry this mother load. If he could be, sure I would let him, (and he wouldn’t mind helping) In fact, I’f I had made the design, we would have babies the way penguin do it. An egg, sharing the responsibility, sharing the time. Would be the bomb.

Obviously I wouldn’t mind sharing the great things about this as well. Like the baby kicking, the feeling of knowing her already. He won’t have that till she is out. But since nature is designed the way it is. I want full credit for being pregnant, and I want full credit for giving birth.

If my man was to build a house, run a marathon, or Skydive. I wouldn’t say.

Yeah so WE ran a marathon. When I’ve been on the couch, while he has been working his legs off running.  Same thing.

I gave birth (I haven’t yet) he might be the one lending an ear to a world of hell, but that doesn’t mean he pushed a human out of his man parts.

Just to be clear, I haven’t given birth yet, and it might end up with a c-section since the little lady insists of getting out mooning the world. And a c-section is also something where sharing credit, is not happening.

I’ll give credit where credit is due, and My man is absolutely amazing, supportive and helpful in every way he can be. More so than many others Im sure. Which to me means the world, since Im pretty much on my own about this baby building stuff, as he is in the Navy, and therefor gone most of the time leading up to the due date.

So please people, cut the WE. Being a couple doesn’t mean you have to give up your right to be your own person.
